Sequoia Lodge Closing for Refurb

I have just seen on the WDW news Facebook page that the sequoia lodge will be closing for a full refurbishment. No dates given just after the Disneyland Hotel reopens.

I’m booked for September 2024 so not sure what this means for me, I’ll update if I hear anything from Disney!

It needs it. Over the last 30 years it is the only one not to have had a huge refurb. The lack of USB points tells its own story!

Their usual pattern seems to be to close it for a couple of years and practically rebuild it. I just hope it doesn’t end up looking slick and bland. I love its cosy woody theme and don’t mind the scruffiness!

I would push for a free upgrade to Newport Bay or even Art of Marvel. You probably won’t get it but no harm in asking!

We are booked for May in a Golden Forest room. If we do get moved, I wonder if they will offer club level at one of the other hotels.

It looks as though they have already started renovating some of the corridors at SL as some pictures were posted on Twitter back in the summer. Makes me wonder if they will close the whole hotel or try top complete it in sections. The separate lodges and layout of the hotel might make this more feasible.

From what I remember, DLH and Marvel were both completely closed but SF and NPB stayed open. I guess we will have to wait and see!

We’re Golden Forest in February. Would hate Newport Bay but have stayed at New York before so that would be a totally acceptable alternative!😀

We stayed during the renovations and they had to move us to the Hotel New York - it smelt of dust and was very loud - they were working quite closeby as the corridor was cordoned off halfway down, about 3 rooms away from the room we were given. So they were open whilst the renovations took place (this was May 2014).

NPB remained open during refurbishment, the poor guest feedback from this is why the decision was made to fully close the DLH for its current refurbishment.
