Advice re food and accommodation
Hi all we are in the very early stages of booking a west coast holiday. There will be 4 adults DH, DSx2 and myself. DH and myself will be funding all aspects of this trip so will be looking to keep costs as low as we can but still have a nice time. Probably looking at the month of may starting in SF and ending up in LA. Eating in average places, how much is realistic to budget per head? average cost of accommodation? Again nothing posh, Premier inn equivalent?

£150 average per room would be a good target. SF is very expensive for accommodation so you’ll pay more there but for the average over the course of the trip I think £150-170 is doable. Food prices in the chains are about 20% more than they are in Florida. You can eat cheap at places like In n Out burger and there’s always counter service salad places. It’s much easier to find healthy counter service in California than Orlando.

Last month for 3 adults main meals only usually soft drinks
LA , Cheesecake Factory $111 ( included 1 beer , 2 cocktail ) Chilis $60 KFC $28 Denny’s $47 ( breakfast ) bruxie chicken $38 Disney red rose tavern $57 Goofys kitchen breakfast $170 inc tip Vegas Buffalo Wild Wings $59 Egg works $45 Golden Corral $45 In N out $20.29 Virgil’s BBQ $75 Use Hotwire / Priceline and you can grab some decent prices for hotels and eating away from the main tourist areas is so much cheaper and often better . |

Also you should consider air bnb or home away. We have used these on our last 2 trips and it has been great.
