We did this last year. Flew outbound LHR-EWR with BA, 5 nights in New York, flew LGA-TPA, 16 nights car hire, inbound flight MCO-LGW. We booked the flights and car hire through British Airways then the internal flight with Delta although Southwest were cheaper and include luggage but we weren't ready to book when they were released!
The direct flights for 2 adults 2 youths and 16 nights car hire (Ford Escape or similar) were £2200 altogether. We then did upgrade the car to a Chevy Tahoe plus the inbound flights to WT+ that added £800 to the booking. This was for last 2 weeks of August first week of Sept so May could well be even cheaper |

Internal are around £60-£80 each usually including baggage but you can’t price now it’s too far out. This is our third time so you won’t pay any more than above
