If turnout is low the winner could be decided by a small number of votes.
I think Newport is the most recent by-election, turnout roughly 37%. Labour won with a reduced majority. Share of vote was down for Labour and Conservatives, up for Greens, Plaid Cymru, and UKIP. The BREXIT Party didn't have a candidate, neither did TIG/CUK. I don't believe some remain voters are taking the Farage party seriously. Everybody I talk to seems to think voting hasn't much point, or say they will spoil their ballot paper in protest. They would all vote remain if they were to bother. I don't think anybody cares if people spoil their votes or stay at home. It just allows somebody to win with fewer votes as long as they receive the most votes. People that favour remaining in EU really must vote otherwise UKIP, and Mr Farage with his BREXIT Party could do extremely well, even though turnouts are low. Same applies to those favouring BREXIT too of course. I'm just more aware of apathy from remain voters so far. |

fortunately, we've not got any brexit party/ukip clowns standing in our area so its a 6-way fight between con/lab/libdem. independent/news/u...-10316962.html |

That's not surprising given that they don't want anything to do with the EU. I'm surprised they participated in as many as 62.3% of the votes.

I voted remain and I agree with you
It was apathy in the referendum that allowed leave to win, leavers were, IMHO, more galvanised to vote than apathetic remainers who thought they would “just win” I’m going to add here that from my stay here in the U.K. and , listening to people ie family, friends etc watching TV if anyone is hoping that Farage is gone well he’s not. It’s the exact same scenario as before if not worse Leave voters. No one listening to them Remain voters. No ones listening to them Labour voters. No one listening to them Conservatives. No ones listening to them Lib Dem. no one listening to him UKIP. We don’t listen unless you are white Change U.K. hypocrites, they don’t represent anyone I can see the Brexit party standing and winning many many seats now and in the future unless the two main parties start to tell folk what it is they actually stand for. Farage , as odious as the man is, is astutely playing to the crowds I despair TBH. Farage fear will plunge the conservatives and labour further into the ****, and they may well vote the deal through for fear of losing more seats rather than what the country wanted or needs. It seems to me, that politicians clearly don’t listen and don’t learn |

I wasn't able to vote in the Referendum as I was 400 miles away dealing with a family emergency. This time we will be in Florida and the elections office have told me they won't be able to get a postal vote sent out to me with enough time for me to to complete it and return it in time for it to be counted. So I will be unable to vote again.
I feel it is important to vote, as so many people especially women fought long and hard to get us the vote but through no fault of my own I am being denied the opportunity to cast it. I can only look on in horror at what has unfolded since the last referendum. I don't believe that whichever way people voted then, that any of them could possibly have imagined the chaos we have now. Politics needs a radical rethink and our elected representatives need to be able to represent the wishes of their community not follow what Whips tell them they have to do. |

I think this has all happened because politicians haven't listened to the people for years and years no matter which way people voted so this was the one chance people had to give the mps a bloody nose so they did

I always vote and this time it does seem pointless and I don't think our goverment are doing anything in our favour with regards to brexit . I've not heard any euro mep come out and show they are helping in the process either. So this time I'm voting for all the canidates in the hope that is classed as a spoilt vote as I believe they have to report the number of spolit votes and if lots of people do it it may send a message.

I think it’s council elections but a few of my colleagues who vote by post (I prefer the old fashioned way of strolling to the polling station) have already sent their papers in. They’ve refused to vote for any of the 3 mainstream parties.
