I would say a G7x is a great camera for all round. The photos it produces are phenominal and the video is just as great, even in low light and within your budget.

The comparisons are apples and oranges.

If you want dslr quality (or near) and are happy to spend that sort of money - while the Panny TZ range are very good, I would be going towards the Lumix LX100. I have both a D5300 and the LX100 and an older TZ.
The LX is a good compromise with super quality. fantastic lens and brilliant in low light - this is the killer reason.

I've just bought the Canon EOS200D - bought as a package from John Lewis so came with the 75-300mm lens as well as the 18-55mm lens. First SLR I've had for years so still on a big learning curve, but having used a Canon Powershot for a long time some of the basic functionality is quite familiar. Early days, but happy with the pictures so far, yet to try any video.
