Solo at DLP March 2019 - Day 3
Day 2 Part 2 can be found here: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1121596
Day 3 I think my body was preprogrammed to wake up early here. I woke at 6am and tried my hardest to go back to sleep. I managed til 8am which I thought was an achievement. I was supposed to be heading out to see the Eiffel Tower today by train buuuuuuut... I still had so much to cover in Magic Kingdom 2, I called it another park day! hey, it just means I gotta come back right?! I was up, washed and dressed and in the park by 9.30. I thought I’d done really well. I checked the Disneyland app and it told me Big Thunder Mountain was a 5 minute wait so I headed to Frontierland sharpish, snapping pics as I went. Turns out when I got there it was a 20 minute wait but I was desperate to ride it so I got in line. I thought the queue was beautiful and the attention to detail was immense. Oh my god! It was so good! I was laughing, smiling and screaming the whole way round. I was just loving it and so happy. I came off the ride and found a shady spot to write some notes. The weather was so lovely and sunny. Beautiful blue skies and no cloud. My weather app told me it was 14C and supposed to get up to 19C later - looks like I picked a good time to visit. I finished my notes and posted a few Instagram pics then headed back around to explore a little more in Frontierland before my 12pm reservation at Silver Spur Steakhouse. I found it so easy to book ad hoc reservations online here and never had a problem finding times. Another DLP plus I entered The Silver Spur Steakhouse and the theming was amazing. I keep saying this but I really felt DLP was so detailed when it came to theming. I was shown to a lovely table and that’s something else I’d found nice on this trip; just because I was solo I wasn’t tucked away on a tiny table without any atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad to start. This had an anchovy dressing which I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy but to me it tasted just like ranch so I loved it. The salad was nice but definitely not a patch on the salad at Bistro Chez Remy, I have to say. For my main course I ordered the steak which was the obvious choice. I’d ordered it medium rare and when it came it looked still alive on the inside. It came with a peppercorn sauce and chips which were both fine but the steak itself was too rare so I went to back. When it came back out, it looked fine but again, it was too rare so I gave up and just ate the corn, chips and peppercorn sauce which was fine. I was just disappointed on this one. Maybe it was a language barrier? For dessert I had the Big Thunder Cake which was like a chocolate Oreo cheesecake with a vanilla cream custard. Sounds strange but this was absolutely gorgeous and I enjoyed every bite. I finished up and headed back into the park. I had snagged a FastPass for Big Thunder Mountain so I rode this again - love this ride! It’s so good and left me with a massive smile. I wandered around the Frontierland area and took lots of pictures. I was trying to do a land each morning and I only had Fantasyland left so I headed out the park to the Disney Village. I bought some souvenirs and a rose gold spirit jersey and chose to have them sent back to the hotel to save me carrying them. I love the spirit jersey and spent ages trying to find the black one but with no luck I headed back to to the hotel and went for a late afternoon swim and a cheeky nap... only an hour this time as once I’d been swimming it was almost 5pm and I had a reservation for Cape Cod at 6:30pm. I had reservations about this meal as I did not like fish or seafood really I entered and I was given such a warm welcome. A gentleman dressed like a captain showed me all the buffet areas and asked how I was. I said I was great and asked him how he was. He informed me as long as I was great he was great and this would be the best meal I had at DLP. I told him sheepishly I did not like seafood and he took his time to show me all the other options at the buffet before showing me to my seat. He was so kind and seemed so sincere. I had a lovely two top table and ordered my drinks straight away. Just water today as l was flagging a little and realised I hadn’t drank much today aside from my drinks with my lunch. I went up to get my first plate and I had some salad, mini potato gratin, potato provençal (looked like baked potatoes with tomatoes and onions) I saw the captain dressed guy again and thought he must be a manager as all the other waiters were dressed as sailors and he asked me to try the baked cod. Just to try... I didn’t want to be rude so I popped it on my plate with full plans to ditch it later. I had a honey and mustard dressing and some cheese shavings with my salad. It was all so beautifully prepared. The Provençal potatoes were amazing. I had some mozzarella balls on my plate, those with the potatoes and sun dried tomatoes were divine. The mini potato gratin went great with my salad and the dressing was so yummy. I had the baked cod sat on my plate so I nibbled a little corner... wow! I wasn’t expecting it to be good. It wasn’t fishy. That was my fear with fish.. that it would taste fishy. And it had this butter and herb reduction on top which was beautiful. My captain guy checked back and patted me on the back...’see we will make you a sailor yet! I knew you would like the fish, please try other things, you can always leave them...’ and he was all smiles. I know some people might of found him too much, but I loved him. He was so genuine and so happy.. it was hard not to like him. On with my second plate. I had more baked cod and Provençal potatoes, baked chicken tagine, and pork with some kind of sauce.. there was a guy who just cracked open a salt baked fish as I got to the buffet and he asked me to try it... I was like ‘nooooooo it still has eyes..’ he thought it was hilarious! I was serious Then it was time for desserts! Is it childish I was excited about the chocolate fountain?! I had a chocolate tart, floating meringue, fruit chocolate skewer and marshmallow chocolate skewer. The floating meringue is the most gorgeous fluffiest light as air desserts I’ve had. It wasn’t overly sweet which was a good thing since I had half the chocolate fountain on plate too The chocolate tarte was lovely, the pastry was so buttery and it again wasn’t overly sweet. Then it was time for my chocolate skewers... my word! The chocolate fountain chocolate was vile... it tasted like thick drinking chocolate. Yuck. I moved on swiftly and went back to my chocolate tart It was almost 8pm once I’d finished so I just had a walk around near the lake, did some last minute shopping in the hotel and took some more pictures. I enjoyed the warm evening and my phone told me it was still 14c. I decided I’d have a nightcap in the hotel bar and post up my trippie. Tomorrow was early checkout at 11am and I wanted to make sure I was all packed and ready. I planned to leave my luggage at the hotel and head into the parks for a few goes on ToT before home. It’s been such a wonderful day and I just wanted to thank everyone who has posted and encouraged me to go solo - I’ve loved every minute. Thanks for reading

For steak in France you really have to ask for it more well done than you would in the UK.
You had another great day - the weather has been great over here the last few weeks!

Another great day. You have been lucky with the weather and the crowds.
I have heard that Big Thunder Mountain in dlp is supposed to be even better than WDW, I love the ride in WDW so looking forward to trying this one 😃 . The buffets look really good. The Captain seemed very welcoming and friendly, it’s good to hear you have had mainly good experiences with the cm’s in Paris (apart from the odd one 😂 ) as I had heard they were less friendly. |

I wish I had know the things with steaks sooner though the one from Bistro Chez Remy turned out fine. I think in the silver spur I needed to ask for it very well done to get medium-rare
The weather has been fantastic! I’m wondering if the weather is always this way end of March, beginning of April as I’m already planning a trip back |
