You can send them a Tweet and they will respond quickly and let you know for sure. My hunch is no. In Phoenix we got there 4 1/2 hours before check in and they made us wait until exactly 3 hours before until they would let us do bag drop.

Where is your journey beginning so we can maybe think of other options to help? I guess you’re not travelling from San Francisco, to SFO, to return back to San Francisco for the day?

At Heathrow and Boston last year we had to wait until exactly 3 hours before flights to do BA bag drop.

As above when we flew out of SFO the BA desks only opened 3 hours before the flight.

Probably best option to pay the extra, alternative is to go into the city and look for a luggage storage place but you might end up paying as much as the extra day.

3 options really:
1. Extend the car, but also consider the cost to park in San Francisco which could be $30 or more and the cases will be in the car, so make sure it is parked with them either not visible of difficult to access. SF is known for break ins to cars for luggage. 2. Drop the car off, get the BART into SF and find somewhere to store the luggage. One option at $10 per case is Pier 39 pier39/pier-info/fre...-7897bd7d-c9dd Another option for downtown seems to be at the Chancellor Hotel on Union Square, 433 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94102, +1 (415) 362-2004. You don’t have to be a guest there to leave bags for a few hours. They just ask that you tip the bellman when you drop the bags off and again when you pick them up. You would want to check they are still doing this nearer the time though. 3. Drop the car off and store the cases at the airport and then get the BART into SF. Looks expensive though. airporttravelagency/...avel-services/ Where are you staying the night before? Is it worth pushing on and staying at an airport hotel where you can leave your bags with them the following day, drop off the car, visit SF and then just collect your bags on return to the airport from the local hotel? |
