Flying out of Miami - Ideas for Beach Stay?

We are booked to stay in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea which is about 15 mins further up than Fort Lauderdale (and so only about 45-50 minutes from the airport) as there are some lovely little hotels right on the beach at reasonable prices, plus you can walk down to a little "center" with lots of restaurants and a few bars but it's a lot quieter than Fort Lauderdale itself and apparently is a little more family friendly... I will let you know after August if that is the case

We stayed at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach last year for 3 nights at the end of our holiday as were flying from Miami. The hotel and location was great, will definitely go again.

We've ended up booking the Doubletree at Hollywood Beach as we thought the location looked awesome.

I’ve just looked at this thread with interest as we are starting in Miami and fly in on a Thursday. As we can’t get to the villa until Saturday we’d been looking too. I have also booked this hotel only 2 days ago.
