How much hold luggage do you take on a short haul family holiday ?

Morning all
Just booked a week in Tenerife for next Feb with Easyjet for 4 of us
Booked 1 23kg hold luggage and will probably take 3 hand luggage
The couple of blokes in the office understood completely - the women were aghast
They couldn't believe we don't book one hold luggage per person
Just a waste of money IMHO - how many shoes and dresses do you really need for a week in the sun ?

For a short haul holiday we take no hold luggage at all. This is in accommodation with a washer though. Last year 2 weeks in Tenerife no problem at all. EasyJet whilst they have bag size restrictions they have none for the weight. We take enough toiletries decanted in to travel bottles for the first day and then hiperdino for the rest. Maybe if going on a hotel holiday I would check one case in. I have the same reaction from my colleagues at work too ! One pair of shoes in the case one pair on your feet !

We are going to Kefalonia for 10 days with easy jet, cabin luggage and two 23kg cases in the hold for four of us. It’s mostly for my dd 16 who likes clothes a lot!

Currently sat on the apron at Alicante after a week in Spain with 2 adults a 5y/o and a 2 y/o

We travelled with 2 23kg bags, which were pretty much at the limit. However if it wasn’t for the need for nappies and extra changes of clothes etc I think we could have managed with one big bag and hand luggage. But it would have been much more of a faff lugging it all around the airport.

In short I don’t think you are mad at all!

None. And that’s for 2 weeks in Florida. When the kids were little and we had more ‘stuff’ we took 2 for the 4 of us but now we are quite capable of travelling with cabin bags.

None. We just take 4 small hand luggage suitcases and that does us fine for the week

1 Tripp cabin case each for us
Make up and toiletries go in the liquids bag decanted into the small bottles .
Our case will also include a jar of coffee and a travel kettle!

Good to see some more people after my own heart
I do need to get into the liquids decanting and/or buying over there
It's only really because of the liquids that we take a hold luggage
Am sure we could manage with a hand luggage each otherwise

It's funny because back in the day when it was all travel agents and bags included , we used to take LOADS
Now that it saves us by not taking any , there is an added incentive to travel relatively lightly
