Mobile Car hire virgin holidays.

Hi just looking for a bit of advice, found a good fly drive price but looking at taking the basic insurance offered and getting our own on top of this to cover everything however, keep getting this If you have not upgraded to our Fully Inclusive, Gold or Gold Plus package and just have the Basic package then there are compulsory taxes and fees payable on arrival locally. Our Fully Inclusive, Gold and Gold Plus packages include all compulsory pre payable taxes and fees

Taxes and fees will be charged on everything purchased locally.

What are these mandatory taxes? Thank you.

They are a host of things ranging from State Tax to airport user fee, tire disposal fee etc.

Hold on I will find a list from an old booking of mine.

Edit. This is it.

1 Customer Facility Charge 3.50/day INCLUDED
2 Priv Fee Recov Chg 10 Pct (10.0%) INCLUDED
3 Fl Waste Tire/battery Fee .02/day INCLUDED
4 Sc Rec - Fl Surchg Recov 2.00/day INCLUDED
5 Vlf Rec .80/day INCLUDED
3 Additional Drivers INCLUDED
UNLIMITED MILEAGE INCLUDED

They break down as follows

1. Charged by the airport
2. A charge made by the rental company as its an airport location
3. Tire disposal mandatory charge to help the environment
4. Another State charge
5. This is % of the costs to register the car and pay for the tag each year.

Just to add. 95% of standalone insurance will require you in someway to pay for any mishaps in advance and claim it back. Which in the case of even a minor bump in the US, could result in claims from other parties running to 000's of $.
