Which dvc monorail resort?
We’ve added on over the last couple of years to be able to use one / two bed villas in the future when we need more space. However, next year as my boys are still only little, I’d like to stay in a studio in one of the monorail resorts with a nice view.
Has anybody stayed in any of the lake view / theme park view rooms and which would they recommend? We’ll never have the points for a bigger villa in either GFV, BLT or the Poly so this might be our one opportunity to stay in a prime spot. I know it’s all subject to availability at 7 months and most likely we’ll take what we can get but just want to know if anybody had any recommendations.

We stayed in a Lake view at BLT and really did love it there, that was a 1 bed but I'm sure the studios are just as fab. I've not stayed at the other 2, tempted to try The Poly for our next trip if it's available but very torn as we adored Copper Creek. I've never had any interest in the GF, it just doesn't appeal to me from visits to eat there etc.

We’ve stayed in all three, our favourite is BLT with Poly a close second. The studios in BLT are quite small but the huge amount of storage means everything can be put away. I don’t like ‘stuff’ around.

The rooms in the Poly are a really good size and imo the lake view is great. It's nice to be able to walk to the monorail to Epcot.
We prefer VGF for resort theming and the more personal experience in the lobby. I don't think the lake views are as impressive because they're not pointing towards the castle. They've both got pull down beds which is helpful if your kids can't share. I would avoid BLT as everyone says the studios are too small for a family of 4. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them though so I would just pick the theming that you prefer. I'm pretty sure that VGF and the Poly are the same points wise anyway. |

Thanks everybody. My hubby thinks I’m letting my heart rule my head as he thinks a one bed in the boardwalk (for not many more points) is better. He thinks the space and walk into Epcot trumps any view. Just that BWV look so similar to BCV where we stayed last year. Decisions to be made!

The only monorail resort I have stayed at is BLT. On our first stay there we had a lake view 2 bed. We were so lucky that it was on the curve and we had an excellent view of both the lake and MK with fireworks. It's great just having a 10 min walk home rather than queuing for buses or in traffic. In fact we loved it so much that we bought points there.
Poly doesn't appeal to me but I would love to stay at VGF one day. DH, however is just scared that I will love it so much that I will want to buy points...

BLT is great, but I’d avoid it 4 in a studio and wait until you are in the bigger units, the studios are small there, but the 1 beds are some of the best.
If you want a studio, I’d probably do Poly due to the size and 2 bathrooms, although I’ve never stopped there as they don’t have 1 beds. Your hubby has a good point re 1 bed Boardwalk, particularly if you can get a standard (probably via waitlist although often bootable in summer months).

We did 4 in a BLT studio and they are very small.
Personally, I’d go for a one bed at the Boardwalk as the second room is great to give everyone a little breathing room. But we have often had 4 in a studio and it is perfectly manageable however we prefer the larger studios at the older resorts. VGF are larger so maybe try there if you have the points. |

Useful chart showing the room size. Interestingly copper creek studios are also quite small. We are there this year so I’ll see how that feels with only 3 of us. Edited at 09:41 AM. |

We did 4 in a BLT studio last year (2 adults 2 kids) and funnily enough in spite of the smaller size it worked really well because of the different layout and storage. In fact DGS 5 insisted on camping out on an airbed on our floor instead of his cosy bed in the 2 bed the rest of the family were staying in
