Mobile Reversed into a parked car help!

My partner backed into a parked car while leaving the parking lot this evening. Scratch on bumpers of both cars. Waited around but nobody came. Left our phone number etc. Hired with Alamo brits. Is there anything else I need to do? What will happen when we return the car? Will we need to pay for other car’s repairs? Really panicking

I'm sure that as long as you've got the collision damage waiver included as part of the your car hire insurance, its no issue whatsoever - that's what its there for. CDW or LDW should be on you standard policy. I know Avis work like that that however I've not used Alamo - should be very similar if not the same. Hope you're all ok & try not to worry too much, it'll be sorted

You’ve hired with Alamo Brits so all the insurances come as standard. You’ll have absolutely nothing to pay.

Don’t worry about it, enjoy your holiday!

I once smashed the back of one, just handed it back at the end. Don’t worry that is why you have loss damage waiver.

With regards to Insurance etc that has been answered already.
Alamo won't bat an eyelid.

The OP has complied with the 'reasonable requirements' for an accident involving an unattended vehicle. Leave a note containing name, car tag details and rental company.

However there are some mixed reports online that 2 States require the Police to be informed of every accident. namely Florida and California.

If it was me I would do as the OP has done as that is sufficient in my view.

I know someone who had an accident and they were told the same, you shouldn't leave the scene of an accident until the police have attended, but he never heard anything.

Thanks so much everyone. Didn’t contact the police as it was such a minor ding. The driver hasn’t called yet. Should I let Alamo have the details of the other car when I take it back tomorrow?

Did you take a picture of the damage? Report it when you return and show them the pic of damage if you have one, just in case the other car was not a rental and try to claim for anything other than what you did - belt and braces for me

Yes took some photos. I don’t think the other car was a rental. I’ll give all the details we have to Alamo tomorrow.

Someone reversed into us a couple of years ago, in the car park at our condo. They waited for us and told us, and luckily we were both with the same car hire firm (I can`t remember but it may have been Hertz). Both parties rang the hire company and reported it, both cars just scratched. All seemed well til we got to the return, where a real jobsworth wanted to know why we hadn`t rung the police. We explained we weren`t told to do that, and as it was in a car park there really wasn`t an issue. He ended up making us fill a really long form out, and was totally obnoxious about it. Really stressful when you`re on the way home and feeling sad!
