Not really anymore with Uber/Lyft. Despite having a car I used Lyft a few times to avoid parking charges and never waited more than 5 minutes for a car. I enjoy driving over there but with the cost of parking in hotels in LA/SF/SD and the rise of resort fees I don’t think I would be hiring a car again unless we are doing another road trip. If we go back as planned to do just L.A./Anaheim a car will just be a money drain for us.

Depends on the kind of trip you want .

Not having a car wouldn’t work for us as we like to just go off and do things and you see far more with a hire car as you can just stop off where you like .

Would hate no car in the US, couldn't do it. Love being able to do what I want when I want at all times with regard to car.
