I couldn’t do it. We decided to have a family suite in a value instead, just for extra space and 2 bathrooms!

Worst thing last year was our little boy got straight into the time zone and was still gong to bed at normal time 8pm. Me and my husband ended up sitting in the dark watching tv most nights. This time he will share with my mum in the bedroom, we will share the sofa bed in the lounge. At least when he sleeps we can sit in the lounge, chat, use the kitchen etc.

Its a no from me. Not because of the size of the room, but you need some privacy! You'll be in each other's pockets all day and all night.

It looks like I'm in the minority, but I'd never even consider sharing a bedroom with my parents on holiday!

How well can you get on with your daughter for 2 weeks? I couldn't justify 2 rooms but only you know how well you will manage. I would squeeze us all in- there might be a few minor rows but the price difference is too much for me.

I echo the privacy aspect, but would also add that you lose storage space with the pull down bed. There are four of us and normally stay at POFQ. We take a hanging shelf unit which really helps, but think I’d struggle if there were five - that’s with the full chest of drawers that you would lose due to the Murphy bed. If your budget could stretch, I’d opt for two rooms, but it is a lot of money.

I think that assuming that you get on well enough with all the family, it might be ok - but the big thing is bathroom space. If everyone wants to shower in the morning, that's a long wait (obviously different people may have different ideas).

A 9 yr old is the right age to start wanting bathroom privacy as well, so might be upset at another adult (even family) needing to use the loo while they were in the bath.

Are the 2 kids good sleepers? Will they go to sleep while the adults talk/watch TV?

Bottom line, in my opinion: if you are using it just for somewhere to sleep, and will be out dawn till dusk then it might be fine. However, you know your family best.

I definitely couldn’t do it but I think this is a question specific to the family involved. We shared last summer, as we always do, then myself, DH, DD16 then and DS 19 then. Me and DH could still share quite happily with my daughter but that was the last time I’m suffering my son in a hotel room with me again. Basically he’s got too old. We are a close family but honestly. He got right on my last nerve. If we go together again it will have to be a family suite. And I don’t fancy staying at a value. At the moment he doesn’t want to come again but we will see I’ve heard that before 😂
