They aren't incorrect. They've described exactly what I did last time we visited.

They just aren't giving all the info.

UK guests can either:
  • Collect their bags as normal and take them with them to the Magical Express, or
  • Collect their bags then put them on the second conveyor belt and tell the Disney CMs their luggage numbers to get the bags delivered to their room a few hours later

It's only US guests that can check through their baggage from their departure airport. Domestic US guests do not have to pick up their bags at Orlando at all and can bypass baggage claim completely. UK guests can't do this and have to pick up their bags from the first conveyor belt before putting them onto the second conveyor belt. US guests also get special ME luggage tags.

BTW, if you arrive between 10pm and 5am at MCO then you have to take your luggage with you on the Magical Express. Disney will not deliver the bags to your room during this time. I don't think this will apply to most British arrivals though.
