Insurance question for all you experts.

Hi everyone. Next year I’m flying to San Fran and taking a 7 day road trip on a Harley before finishing in Vegas. While I’ve rented lots in Florida and tend to books with Alamo or Andy I’m lost on the motorcycle hire. It seems my only option is eagle rider which comes in at around $140 per day. Obviously I then have to include the correct insurance can any of you experts confirm what I need. My heart tell me go for the expensive one as it will cover everything I need but I found out on here that I didn’t need to have been doing that all the time with Alamo and have since been saving money with out paying for there platinum range.
Also is there any other renters out there that anyone knows off. When I was in Orlando last week an American said he never uses eagle rider insurance but I didn’t ask him who he uses, my dad seemed to think the gentleman own insurance covered his rentals or he used a broker.

These are the two different insurance options I have obviously I have to pick from liability and 1 from collision

Hi. I have no knowledge whatsoever on Insurance for motorbikes but I suspect you are right in what you say that Americans insure via their own policy very much the same as they do with rental cars.

However I had a bit of a Google and found this that may be of help. Also although it's not very clear it does appear that the Post Office do a policy for UK riders to insure a rental bike overseas. Worth a look.

Please accept though this is only from me Googling and I have no idea if it's sufficient for what you need.
