Just a suggestion, but may it not be better to invest in a tablet / ipad? takes up less space, no need to pack DVD's, you can either download movies to watch offline from Sky, Amazon, Netflix or "other" sources.

physical media is dead... embrace ripping a dvd to your computer and playing back via a cheap android tablet. once you start doing it (look at HANDBRAKE for a free tool to rip, and KODI/VLC for playback on the tablet)

rip, copy to the device (or a microSD card) and watch. simple!

When our portable DVD players packed in we went to ipad... as well as downloading we also got a bit of software from cucusoft that allowed us to convert DVDs to files we could transfer to the tablet.

you mean this?

cucusoft/

$30+ ($60 for the full s/w) seems like a lot of money for something that handbrake can do for free...

not sure which version I bought...have had for several years. Initially I moved files to samsung tab before I got the ipad and it worked for both. Free option is more appealing though!
