Mobile Thomas Cook plane swap and now not premium

Hi all

Do we’re flying back today and we’ve just been advised that there has been a change with the plane and the new one doesn’t have the same premium allocation. Looks like we’ll be economy on the way back which is a shame but just wondering if this is happened to anyone else and what did Thomas Cook refund. I’m assuming it will just be a refund for the one way of premium costs?

Is a downgrade from premium treated as a change in class ? I thought the keyword was economy not premium but I may be wrong.

OP. Oh goodie a nice claim coming on. You are entitled to 75% of your return ticket cost. Not the difference between Econ and PE.
However TC and Tui both fight to the bitter end so be prepared for a Civil Court Case where you will win.

If they send you a cheque or make an offer of the difference in Econ to PE do not accept it.

I hope it doesn’t happen to me but if you are downgraded one way is it still 75% of return ticket cost?

Sorry, missed your post. The amout due back is 75% of the 1 leg. Not 75% of the total cost.

There is a slight difference in fares due to time taken to fly. Thus the 2 legs aren't split 50/50. More like 52/48

So on a £1000 return fare if the leg home got cancelled you would be due 75% of circa £470 not £500.

So home after a long flight. Interesting to read the caa guidance and it does look like a claim could be worth following up. Has anyone on here successfully made a claim on the same basis?

They gave us a letter which I’ll dig out but basically said the plane had been switched to avoid a long delay and the new plane didn’t have as big a premium section.

We had no notification before and only found out at check in.
