Thanks guys. The only slight issue I may have is that I booked the entire holiday through My Magic Holiday and when I go into my online TC account it doesn’t have a price next to the flights. I’ve emailed Myah at MMH to ask if they can give me the price breakdown for the flight so I know what to claim. Read Papamouses post and it sounds like we shouldn’t have any issues claiming as we were told at check in. Seems people have had issues when they have been told in advance.

Papa mouse is your man, he is an expert. They will try & fob you off with the difference between economy & premium economy but if you persevere they govenin eventually. We didn’t have to go to court & got 75% of the cost of the flight back. Just be prepared, their customer service is not the greatest!

May I ask which seats you had booked eg how did they select which ones were bumped down to economy?

Linda. Do you mean the entire seat cost plus £50? Or the difference between Econ to PE plus £50?
I wouldn't settle for the latter. This is where carriers like Virgin come into their own. They were so good to me when we got bumped.

Linda. It's not good enough is it. They know they are breaching EU Regulations and just rely on people not knowing their rights.
I hope you will tell your friend about what they can do if they want to. It's such an easy process.
