Mobile Phone / Data usage

Hello I’m hoping someone can help as not very techy!

I pay monthly sim only with Tesco which is completely fine for what I need and I’m not looking to change, however they don’t cover USA!

So I’m thinking of getting a 1 month deal with Three (reading this is the best but may be mistaken).

Last time we went I don’t remember using my phone but now with the MDE and Universal apps I’m thinking I’ll be using it a lot in the parks to check ride times, fast passes etc

Now my question is do you use the parks free Wi-Fi (is it any good I use an Iphone 5) or do you use your phone data?

If using the phone data how much data (roughly) do you realistically think I’ll use during a 18 day trip?

Many thanks

The WiFi has always been fine for us, never really noticed the complaints others have. How much data you'll use is entirely down to your usage. Will you literally just be checking MDE etc or doing that and browsing Facebook and uploading to Instagram etc? Even if it was the latter I think you'd struggle to use more than a few GB. I know I have in the past.

only you can know how much data you are likely to use, but if you stick to uploading some photos, browsing facebook, checking emails and some google maps/searching you shouldnt use more than a gigabyte or two. its when you start streaming audio and video (including watching videos on facebook) that the big data caps come in.

bear in mind though that 3 have a fair usage policy of (i think) 12gb, so theres not really any point in getting more than that.

but saying that, i only use 4-6gb a month during normal usage at home, and if i'm careful (ie preloading playlists on spotify at home on wifi) than it can be between 500mb and 1.5gb

just dont go watching movies on netflix using it, and youll be fine...

hth

if you're only using 1gb at home, unless you change your usage habits drastically on holiday, things aren't likely to be much more (if at all)

sign into the free park wifi, and you should be fine

I have a Tesco SIM as well which is very expensive to use abroad. I bought the 3sim £20 add on for the 12gb and used less than 1gb in 2 weeks. Most places had WiFi. We all had 3 Sims so could text or call when no WiFi or data signal

We use a 3 sim on holiday, 2 weeks travelling around using the phone as at sat nav some of the time and we used under 1gb, we’d paid for 12 gb so won’t be doing that again 😂

My DD and I are both in contracts with O2 so our phones are locked to O2. Does anyone know what we can do to have data to use whilst in Florida. Does O2 offer any deal?
