Help-I'm out of my comfort zone!
Hi,I'm seriously considering a cruise for next year Out of nowhere, DS aged 7 asked why we've never done one and if we could As he's the only one that shows any interest in our holidays and he heard me mentioning to his Aunty earlier, that I've no idea what we're doing next year, I started looking into this yesterday night.
There will be 4 of us if we do this next August and we want to go probably from Orlando to the Bahamas.I got a price for a Suite on the Carnerval Valour for $1900ish, this was directly on their website for 4 nights. My party would be myself and DD 20, Ds's 18 and 8 by then. I have seen some lovely ships with so much on them and worry that a disney cruise would be great for my youngest by the other ships would be better for my older ones. We could also do the trip next October, which due to Uni, would mean it's only me and my youngest anyway, so not so much to consider. Can anyone give me an idiots guide with regards to booking it all please I have read the sticky, but unsure whether to book the cruise then source everything else around it, or flights first and who exactly to book with. Cruise critic reviews seem more harsh than trip advisor so every time I think that's a good ship, I see something to make me think twice. And finally, do you all book with US TA's? Thanks |

I am going on my own with my kids, did the same last year.
My oldest will be 19 and he can use the adults only area - this is a Disney cruise by the way. I think there is enough for adults and children. I booked the cruise and then sourced flights and hotels and car hire afterwards. The cruise had to be on specific dates due to school terms and this determined everything else. Re- booking- I booked our cruises directly with Disney.

What you can also do is use an agent like Planet Cruise or Virgin Holidays Cruises.
Most times their packages will include the cruise and the flights with the transfers. Sometimes they even throw a drink package. It's usually easier to do it this way, it removes all the fuss. |
