Hi

We've done both bus and Uber and also Mears. Uber wins by a distance.

Uber was circa 50% of the cost of Mears. All the drivers we had were nice and friendly.

Its still more expensive than the bus, yes, but you'll easily get an extra 4 hours at the park without leaving any earlier or returning any later than you would getting the bus.
We did this journey (from Port Orleans French Quarter) in November, it cost $13.34. And took about 25 minutes.

For the bus...
Get to the Ticketing and Transport Centre - Resort bus to MK and then take whichever option you prefer to the TTC (ferry, monorail).

Then you take the number 50 Lynx to Either I Drive, then another bus north up i-drive to where Wet n Wild is/used to be. Its about a 10 minute walk from there. You can switch to another bus that will take you to Universal, but if the timing doesn't fall right you could be waiting a while.

Or take the 50 bus all the way to the Lynx Bus station then transfer onto another bus which does go right into the Universal Bus station.

Google says this take 2 hours 30ish (from the ticket centre).

Oh final point, i cant recommend enough having a sim card with cheap or free data roaming if you plan on using Uber. Wifi signal is often intermittent or out of range in the places where you'd get picked up from.

I made the mistake of assuming wifi wouldnt be an issue and ended up paying £5 per day whenever we used Uber. Its also useful as you can track your journey on the map on your phone.
