I've never been to either but AKL is amazing by the sounds of it. Por fq is a compact resort from what I've read.

They are totally different. Do you want deluxe amenities, immersive theming and a slightly less good location? Go for AKL. If you want to save some money, go for PO. Both are great for different reasons

Where else have you stated before, or visited, so we can do some compare and contrasting?

We love POFQ, nice compact resort and able to walk to riverside to eat there. But when pricing up free DD and wanting DDP ALK was the same price as upgrading the plan at POFQ.

AKL is a deluxe resort and we piked it in 2012 as we wanted a balcony knowing we had a toddler in tow. It did feel out on a limb and we missed the boat option to Disney Springs that FQ had. We are glad we stayed at AKL as it was on our to do list but we feel we have done it now. FQ we would be happy to stay there again. It is all personal choice.

We stayed at the cbr in june 2016. It was our first family visit. Convenience will be important as we have ds9 ds4 ds1. So will have a double stroller my wifes view is that akl is out of the way and life would be much easier at pofq.

I've stayed in both. AKL is my DVC resort. It is truly amazing.Everything from the lobby area with amazing carved wood furnishings, to the full size glass o/s window to the savannah. The viewing areas with rocking chairs on the balcony overlooking the savannah. The 2 restaurants and full bar and Mara quick service. The pool area, the night vision animal viewing, the childrens supervised activity club and the animals.
This place has an amazing atmosphere, its vibrant and the theming is the most amazing i've ever seen.

POFQ, is close to disney springs and you can get a boat or bus there.it is a small resort with a small pool area. its quite romantic with horse drawn carriages but has only 1 quick service restaurant on site. If you want a choice or a full service restaurant, you have to take a bus or carriage or boat to po riverside.
we enjoyed this resort when my son was small and i had to keep an eye on him around the pool and grounds.
personally, i much prefer akl. much more going on, much more to do and yes it is longer to get to disney springs or the magic kingdom but we think its worth it and sometimes do a split stay. We book a few days at bay lake towers and then relax at akl.
perhaps you should consider doing the same?

hope it all works out for you.
either way, they are both beautiful resorts and you are staying onsite at disney, so will have a great time anyway!

Not sure the stroller makes a difference?
Akl is awesome. Having a balcony is really important to us so I'd stay there over pofq.

I haven't stayed at POFQ but have stayed at AKL,OKW & CBR.

For me, AKL stood out by a mile. It's wonderful!

If you have kids I'd go for akl, breathtaking resort, yes a bit further out but one that would stick in your kids memories forever.

AKL isn't that much farther out. You're talking 5 minutes in the car. The advantage is that it's a deluxe so has a balcony giving you a little extra space. It's a beautiful resort and the pool in particular is lovely. I haven't stayed at POFQ but the advantage there is the boat to Disney Springs.
