Busch gardens hotel advice

We are Getting closer to our 3 week holiday in August, we are staying at universal for the first week and planning a day at Busch Gardens as we have never been before.

We are contemplating one night in a hotel nearby so we could travel over in the evening and then have a more relaxed start to the day and then head to the park and travel back later on.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels that are close by to Busch Gardens and whether you think it's worth the overnight stay?

TIA

Definitely think it's worth it but not too sure of the hotels closest to Busch. Maybe look at hotels nearer to Brandon, a really nice mall there with a Cheescake Factory

Busch isn't set in a particularly 'plush' neighbourhood for accommodation!
It only takes about 1 hr 20 from universal so I would recommend travelling out in the morning, Busch doesn't actually open until 10am anyway.
In the past we have spent the day at Busch then driven on to Clearwater for the night, spent the following day at the beach and travelled back late afternoon.

We stayed at Hyatt Place in summer too, very nice hotel.

Also stayed at HI express and Suites the year before, it's on Bruce Downs Blvd, #1 on TripAdvisor consistently, great hotel, ice cream reception in evening, TGIF next door, about 10 mins to BG I'd say.

We are going to stay 2 nights to go to Busch at the very end of August and have been having slight worried with the area- looked at Hyatt first but I think we are going to go for the Embassy Inn and Suites on the USF campus as on street view it looked in a 'reasonable' area. I have literally spent most of the morning tody reading reviews on trip advisor with the keyword 'safe' in them- maybe a tad obsessed but there you go, lol!

Hyatt was lovely, I really wouldn't worry. There's also a shuttle to and from the hotel to BG, also to restaurants wtc.

Weve stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham twice, which is 5 mins away and has a free shuttle service.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn express.
10 min walk to the park
Fine hotel and was very cheap. Would stay there again.
