DCL 'V' Other cruise liners?

I have to ask, having only done a DCL what are the 'Others' really like & how do they compare?

When looking around for our 3 night one I was tempted with Royal Carribean but pleased I chose Disney!

Anyone who's experienced more than Disney please let us know!

I haven't been on any other either, but I did hear that the shorter cruises with the other lines use their older ships ... and this is one reason why they are a fair bit cheaper.

I have friends who have cruised with Princess cruises and loved it...and some who went with Norwegian on their newest ship and thought it was fab! I just love that 'Disney' touch though!

I've done Princess, P&O Disney and doing Royal Caribbean in Oct.
P&O was our 1st on the old Arcadia - now the Ocean Village, lovely ship, big cabins but few balconies, food very British, average age quite high but we loved it, my boys were 6 and 3 they had a ball, not too many kids - it was a scottish school holiday but not an English one!
Golden Princess was next, big ship - took us a week to learn our way around, Eastern Itinerary same as Disney - woke up one morning looking down on the Magic! Food similar to disney, entertainment not as good, cabins good, perhaps not quite as much space as Disney - Double bed with 2 bunks above. Loads to do, good kids club, 2 pools so 1 for pool games and loud music other for a quieter swim but kids were allowed in which suited my 2 as they are a bit shy.
Disney, lovely ship, suerb segregation if you want away from the kids! very busy with hordes of kids (we went out of US school holiday, but many preschoolers on board.) Loved the adult only areas, but my boys didnt like the kids club - too structured for them, they couldnt be with us in the adult pool area and it was heaving in the Goofy pool area. They wouldnt even try to get near the slide at the Mickey pool. Cabins great, service, same as any of the others, our waiters were very pushy - My DS doesnt often eat puddings and one of them made a great fuss about this child who didnt want pudding and brought him a mickey bar even though we had said that he didnt eat sweets and told him to eat it. This embarrassed DS (who was 10) so much he didnt want to go down to dinner the next night. We were unlucky in that my kids arent very out going , we had looked forward to the cruise so much having loved the other 2 and love going to Disney, it kind of spoilt the whole experience. The Food is good but like any of the other cruises, the entertainment is Fab, just as you would expect from Disney, we were there for the start of the Pirate nights and got talking to some of the crew, they really know how to work a crowd!
DH and I would go back in an instant but without the kids, or once they are older!
Next one is on the Mariner of the Seas which isnt very old, We have 2 cabins instead of sharing which we couldnt afford on Disney. Its the Eastern Itinerary again which we love and is a fraction of the cost of Disney. Hope its good.
They all have their pros and cons - you just have to know what will suit your family. I look at Ports of call now and work from there.

When are you doing The Mariner Of Seas? I'm interested to hear what you think of it!
Having only ever done Disney, its hard to imagine any other being as good-We really loved our 3 night trip. But, have looked at the 7 night prices & yes, Disney are so much more expensive, hence why I'v asked the question!
We found out stateroom(Only Cat 10) was really great so I'd hate to be dissappointed!
thanks for answering me, I look forward to hearing how your next trip goes!

Thanks for that Mo. I had heard that the adult areas on Disney are particularly good, I think maybe because they have so many families on board, the adult areas tend to be that much quieter This suits us of course, but wouldn't be so great if you do have kids with you...
