LA - where would you recommend?

Just me again!

We've been looking at flight loads etc for our upcoming trip to Vegas, but it's looking likely that we may have to fly home from LAX, so we are just wondering if you had one night to spend in LA area, where would you stay? Not likely to be doing much as will probably arrive early evening and be flying the following afternoon.

Thanks

Manhattan Beach or Marina Del Rey. Lovely places and beaches close to airport.

Are you going to be sightseeing in LA or doing something like the Warner Bros your ( it's only 2.5hrs so you would have time the last day ) if so I'd stop in Hollywood somewhere just so you can cut out sitting in traffic and wasting time .

The last two years we've flown home from LAX and rather than waste a night in a hotel there we've driven in from Phoenix that day it's about 360 miles / 6 hrs so further than Vegas but it means we don't waste the last full day evening .

If you want somewhere busy then somewhere around Santa Monica / Venice beach. I you want somewhere quiet with a few restaurants on the beach the Redondo Beach.

We've had a quick look at the Warner Bros Tour and my OH is keen to do that, thanks for the tip. Currently looking at hotels in the Hollywood/Santa Monica/Malibu areas as we want to avoid as much of the central LA traffic as we can.

If you're planning on warner bros tour i can recommend tangerine inn, free parking and walking distance to the tour, several restaurants in walking distance too including an awesome Mexican next door

If you are coming across from Vegas and plan to do the Warner Bros tour (recommended) then you would be better staying that side, as to get to Santa Monica means crossing LA.

Downside is you don't get to see that area and will be in suburbia instead. But probably the safest option to allow you to do an early tour without being up at the crack of dawn on the day you will be having a long flight back to the UK.

check out the beverly laurel motor hotel, its not too far from warner bros, in a great area, about 15 mins drive from west hollywood over the hills to warner bros

we found a great american diner about 5 mins from the studios called Bobs Big Boy, which had a really 50's hollywood feel to it, with amazing food!

we went to the studios to see a show recording a few weeks ago and this is the place that the guys recommended for lunch!
