How strict are they ?
I know the gambling laws in Vegas are over 21 but how tough are they on an 18 year old walking around with his family? I want to take my boy but he is only 18. I will do all the shows etc but also want a punt. Just wandering how tough they are on where they can stand or sit?

i believe that under 21's aren't allowed on the casino floor or in gaming areas & would be denied entry unless it is to use a designated walkway to get to somewhere else in the hotel; in that case, he would be expected to not stop & to keep walking in the designated area only or would be asked to leave.
In short, he won't be allowed to stand or sit anywhere that you're gambling/using the slots etc. Edited at 11:27 PM. |

Very ! He won't be allowed to stop walking in the casino floor next mind stand there whilst you gamble . He will be told to move on very quickly and if your with him you're likely to feel the wrath of the security too for letting him be there .
I take my teens every year but they know they can only walk through the casino and then only if we are with them , they can't walk through alone even if heading out tk the strip or back to their room . Edited at 01:03 PM. |

Very strict. We were checked on our honeymoon by pretty much every passing security guard.

Most seventeen to twenty year olds find Vegas very frustrating as security are very tight on them , no pausing to look around the floor, no alcohol , most find it really annoying because they (and their parents) assume it'll be fairly Loose like it is in the UK when it isn't at all.
I love Vegas but my son stopped coming with me when he was sixteen or seventeen as he found it annoying he was excluded from things and preferred not to have to be continually compromising or needing an adult escort. |

We are taking our DD 15 for the first time in August. We went in October on our own. We know we will have a completely different experience this time and don't expect her to be allowed to stop at all on the casino floor. We have to walk through the casino to get to the elevators in the Bellagio but won't be tempted to stop with her at our side. If we fancy a flutter, we will take turns on our own to gamble on the slots and one of us be at pool with her.

My eldest is 18.5 she can't wait to be in vegas again in a month , it's her 6th in a row but 8th in total .
Wherever she went in America she couldn't drink so that's not a issue it'll be the dame in Florida next year when she's nearly 20. The only restriction is the casino floor but we've never had a problem with security because both of my teens know the rules . There's still more than enough for them both to do each time we go . My DD celebrated her 21st a few days before going to Vegas last year and she was asked for ID everytime we were near the slot machines.
