BA (Avis) cancel or change booking?

Has anyone done a cancellation or modify of a BA-booked Avis deal? Saw the threads about prices changing and I can see that BA is now £90 cheaper than when I booked 2 months ago.

I can modify the booking through avisba.com, and it shows me the "new"/lower price, but does that refund my card or what?

I could try cancelling and losing the £40 admin fee and re-book (terms suggest I have to write to budget-avis to get the refund which is a pain? Is it best to do that through the avisba.com website, or ring?

Could save me £50 which is probably a tank of gas, as they say

Probably doesn't help you much, but I booked a car and then decided to upgrade it so BA changed the booking and linked it to the Avis Preferred account. It was an increase and I didn't get charged an admin fee as well.
If you can't reduce price without an admin fee you might be able to upgrade your car 1 or 2 bands for about the same price.

Did you do it online or ring them?

Sorry just added a bit more to my first post.

I did it on the phone and it was really easy. I think I got them to read all the flights and everything back to me to ensure I wasn't changing anything else.
