Wouldn't avoid LinQ , just ask for a quiet room. Would certainly stay there again

The Orleans might suit, it has a great Casino but has a softer edge than some of the Strip hotels. It's not quiet by any means but is less frenetic than the Strip so nice to leave the madness that is the Strip at the end of the night. There's often dancing happening as well as entertainment in the Irish bar too.

The way I look at it is it's just as quick , if not quicker to get from the Orleans to mid Strip than from say the Trop or Luxor and it's free on the shuttle rather than a very long walk, deuce, uber monorail or taxi.

If you gamble even mimimumly odds are you'll get a 2 night comp for next year too

My last Vegas trip I went with two Mormon girlfriends so they neither drank nor gambled , we stayed at the Tuscany and had a fab time with pool time and shows. Tuscany and the Platinum are also worth a look . Just a block off the Strip, great prices and location (right by Ellis Island).

If shopping and pool time are the focus then that can change which hotel will be best. Our best day was out at the Red Rock hotel, pool was amazing and we hired a tented cabana bed. (Think of a mega sized super comfy sun bed big enough for 4 people with waitress service) which we got free through myVEGAS rewards.

Flamingo is a bit tired but I like the vibe and location. The Linq I've had several friends complain it's too central with noise so we've all agreed it's off the list

I realise how ridiculous this will sound but it's for DDs 18th birthday so we won't be going into casinos except to walk through. So the casino isn't a draw for me (yes I know how bizarre that sounds )

I didn't get a good vibe from the Flamingo when we went there - was I unlucky?

Hi Karen I thought the linq looked really nice when we went past it last year. The whole area has been spruced up really nicely with a lovely atmosphere Have you checked Travelzoo? They have some vegas hotels on offer at the moment

Only one we've actually stayed at is Ballys and loved it. We had a Jubilee room overlooking Eiffel Tower. Had a fridge which was great. Loved it there. My next choice would be Linq.

No you wasn't unlucky , I've stayed there 3 times most recently three years ago and we all hated the flamingo it's very tired and rundown ..I went in it last year and it's even worse ..

Out of the ones you have on the list I'd go for the Linq as it's the most modern since the renovation.

I think I can safely say that's it's not a hotel Karen will stay in .

My friend stays there when he goes to Vegas but he's a single bloke who doesn't really care ..we've picked him up from there and it's a dump and the people it attracts well let's just say I wouldn't want my kids around them..

Harrah's, Bally's, Monte Carlo or Linq?

I just want an acceptable room - location is more important (probably won't have a car). We know the Vegas area reasonably well, last went in 2013 and have previously stayed at Signature, Venetian, M Bay, Vdara. I'm well aware my choices this time are not in line with those, unless I get a Hotwire bargain like last time

I can get all of the above for under £250. Which would you choose and why?

Thanks
Karen
Can I ask where you are finding them prices ? I have booked flights for the week after you and can't get anywhere near those prices , unless it's because I am putting four in a room.

4 does make a difference unless your creative with ages... put the kids at under 12/15 (whichever makes a difference ) and the price almost always drops.

And before the moral Police pipe up ;-) Hotels are well aware it happens and my kids took up no more space/facilities at 13 than they did at 12..still slept in the same bed and used the same shower..

Thanks - I think the location may not be great for me and DD though.

Excellent thank you. I nearly booked the Platinum last time we went, because the rooms were perfect for a family. The Orleans price is looking good, on a par with my initial choices

Thanks Joan - first one to mention Bally's - I like the idea of a fridge for my G&T

It's because of the four in a room. I'm getting the prices everywhere, booking.com, Ebookers, Expedia etc. It almost doubles the price when you add four. If you book a room with two doubles with just two people in it, it would still sleep four... just saying

Check out the price of the Orleans buffet breakfast , its less than half the price of the mid range Strip hotels and better than most of them. We sometimes get the shuttle from the Strip to have breakfast there.

Oh Tuscany has massive rooms some with balconies which we loved as they are a rarity in Vegas.

We never eat again til evening as we are too stuffed. The pool and spa are nice there and the spa much more affordable than the Strip hotels.
I've stayed maybe eight times at the Orleans with three adults in the room, always booked as two adults and they don't care at all. (We used to go see our favourite artist perform in their showroom before he got a residency on the Strip so we tended to be groups of female friends sharing so lots of us were three or four to a room)

Linq public areas are nice but not all rooms are renovated apparently and for me that matters. I had a room once when it was IP for one night, never again .

If you can get a good rate at one of the cheaper CP towers the $20 trick has always got me a room in the Augustus tower btw.

I'd not touch Motel 6 or 8 with a barge pole either ! Rooms are basic motel and the ones I've seen were clean but it definitely attracts a certain class of guest !
