Airline recommendations to Hawaii?
We are planning on 10 days to Hawaii with LA either side. Will be flying out of and into LAX. Does anyone have any recommendations on which airline to use? There's Virgin America/Delta/AA/Hawaiian/Alaskan and they are all roughly the same price and think they all charge the same for baggage. As it's a reasonably long flight, are any planes more comfortable than others?

I flew with Hawaiian last year from L.A. to Honolulu and was really impressed with them as an airline.
They made a big deal out of the fact they're the only airline who operate this route and provide a free meal and beverage. What I liked about flying with them was the Hawaiian touches to their service, so air hostesses with flowers in their hair, music as you boarded and TV screens showing images of Hawaii. It was nice to get you excited for actually going there. |

I can vouch for Virgin America- Great airline , with good in flight entertainment and funky cabins.

I had thought Hawaiian might be nice as you'd feel like you were already in Hawaii! Thanks, I'll check out Virgin America and see what they offer

Last summer we did San Jose to Honolulu then back to LA with Hawaiian and thought they were fab for the same reasons as amy, loved all the little touches like pineapple cookies, Maui onion chips etc and rum punch served just before landing - it really felt perfect.
Having said all that, this summer we have included Hawaii as part of our flydrive itinerary booked with BA/AA. This was so much cheaper so I'll just have to wait until we get there for the pineapple cookies

Just booked the flydrive so far for this year, NCL-LHR-LAX then on to Honolulu (rented DVC points for Aulani) then back to LA for a California fix before returning LAX-LHR-NCL. Need to get on with planning the rest of it but haven't decided where to spend the time in California
Last year we really did a bit of everything, when I get some time I might get round to writing up a trip report There are lots of route options for Hawaii, you don't have to go from LA so we found it relatively easy to fit into our itinerary once you get the flight prices to work. You won't be disappointed if you go

We are doing Las Vegas, Hawaii, LA, using Hawaiian airlines for internal flights.

I booked Virgin America in the end as they came out cheapest. Booked premium economy as it was only £50pp extra and then you get better seats and luggage included. Most airlines charge $25 per case so we weren't paying much extra at all
