Prebooking online before you go?

Does everyone pre book things before they go i.e. excursions.

Do you complete all the necessary boarding forms, etc before you go and if you prebook kids into the clubs do you have to state what times they intend going or is it once they are booked in they can come and go as they please during kids club opening times?

Hi Jackie
We normally pre book an excursion or 2, if we want spa treatments that are very popular we'll do that too. The online booking forms weren't available on our last trips so it'll be the first time we've done that this year Don't take dd with us so can't help on that one...

They didn't have the pre board forms when we went last year either, but it didn't take long to checkin at the port with the printed ones anyway , since non US residents have their own queue, and we were first in it at port opening

No you don't have to state what times your kids are going to the kids clubs - your child automatically has a place at any time, since they only allow so many kids of each age group on board.

Its at your discretion whether they are allowed to sign themselves in & out. If you opt to collect them then you have to agree a password to be used so that they know that they are your kids.
Even after registering them for the kids club on line, there is a further registration in the terminal building for them (or on the ship if you arrive later). At this point they get issued with wrist bands, and you get issued with a pager so you can be contacted should there be a problem concerning your kids (do not lose it or it will cost you a small fortune !)

One thing that is fairly essential to book asap on line (the minute you pay your balance in full) are Palo reservations, as these are very hard to get (though they do hold some reservations back on the ship, but you would have to be quick to secure them on there too !). I don't know how popular the excursions are but some of the spa treatments at particular times/days get taken quickly too.

It is not unusual for DCL enthusiasts to be waiting to hit that keyboard, the second they are able to make their bookings !

Thanks for that everyone. My son & daughter are quite inseperable (although they fight like cat and dog sometimes! ) and they would like to both go to the same clubs although boy age 6 and girl age 9. Disney said they could both book into same club but would have to stay together for the whole cruise. Has anyone out there ever booked their child into the older age group club so that they can be together? If so was it a good idea or not?

I think Disney may have had a recent policy change on this, because they used to strictly adhere to the age group limits in the clubs and not allow this.

I think my DD6 , would much prefer to be with my DS10 actually - I'll be interested to hear any other comments on this too

Hi I received this reply to my question on 25th November 2006.

The youth activities onboard have been designed for children to
participate in age appropriate groups, which allow them to interact both
socially and comfortably with peers of their own age and size.

You can request to have Lisa sign up to be with Matthew; however, once
the change is made she will need to stay with that age group for the
entire cruise.

To make this request, please meet with one of the children's counselors
once onboard.

I will be taking this email with me just in case.

We have never done any excursions, so the only thing we have booked on-line was Palo

We filled in all the documents on-line and printed them off and it definitely saved a lot of time when checking in. I think the only form we had to fill by hand was the Bahamas Immigration form
