Which Beach?
Hi All
We are planning on doing a day at a beach but which beach? We are a family of 2 ad and 2 ch aged 4 & 9. We just want a nice sandy beach with a nice restaurant nearby to pass a day. I have read a lot of negative comments about Clearwater lately so was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere really nice! Thanks In Advance ! |

We visited Clearwater in 2010 and we thought it was nice, it's got a sea side town kinda feel. The beach at Clearwater is amazing with it's bright white sand, but be sure to use sun cream a lot as I fell asleep for 15 mins and woke up sun burnt. This was in October!
We went to Clearwater with Florida Dolphin Tours and they included a free meal at a local cafe restraunt. The meal was very nice and once we'd eaten we spent the day on the beach. |

My recommendations would be Anna Maria Island/Holmes and Bradenton Beaches. A wee bit of a longer drive than Clearwater but a lot more tropical Island feel and some nice places to eat. We always stay down overnight but have often done a day trip just need to leave early in the morning.
We will be there next week love it! Alison |

Def. the Anna Maria end of Anna Maria island. Plenty of eateries and a gorgeous beach.

We have booked a hotel for 1 night at South Beach, Miami to far to drive up and down on same day. Loads of everything available, can't wait.

I can't imagine you would want to spend as much time in the car as some people suggest. Hardly a treat for the kids.
For a day trip there is either Clearwater Beach or Daytona Beach. You will not be disappointed by either. |

Always go to Daytona, you take the car on the beach so haven't got to carry all your gear from a car park.the facilities are good, plenty of lifeguards and hot/cold food outlets on the beach.there are at least a dozen family friendly restaurants,an indoor waterpark and childrens entertainment within walking distance.we used to go to clearwater but over the last few years has got dirtier.definitely worth a try.

Clearwater is an amazing place... Lots for a family todo! Beautiful white sandy beach that is so soft, calm warm sea. You can go on boats and see dolphins plus do a tour of the star homes around the Bay Area! Then after sunset you can walk pier 60 with the stalls, street entertainers, normally you can see a band plus a fire eater on the sand. It's a great place to relax after a busy time in orlando. Also some nice places to eat. We always go to Gondalier then have a game of crazy golf to end our night!
