hi, just noticed your quote from alamo co uk... have you tried
alamo/brits which is the same company but with extra discounts for brits, with all insurances and upto three extra drivers included... hope this might help

Do what a lot of us do and book car hire with another supplier which will be cheaper, say nothing to Virgin and then when you arrive at Orlando head to the car hire desk for the car hire you have booked by yourself. As already mentioned if you cancel with Virgin they will class it as flight only or tell you that you cannot do that and you will not be able to use the V-Room.

We've got a fly drive booked for Xmas and have no intentions of collecting the car. We also asked virgin to give us the least basic car (not the one that's automatically allocated to our size party) and that reduced the cost a little.
