Car Hire Early Pick Up?

Hi everyone,

our flight was recently changed and is now arriving earlier in Orlando, but is also leaving earlier on return.

I had completely forgotten about the car hire.
We've hired our car with Sixt - the pick up i booked was 5pm - we'll probably be picking it up at 3pm now - is this going to be an issue?

Likewise the return time is 3.30pm, but it will probably be more like 1pm now.

The t&cs say the pick up time is 'binding'. Do you think if we show up early they'll give us the car and then we'll return is earlier so we are still within the 14 days and don't go over the 24 hours to add an extra day?

Or are we likely to face stupid amendment charges?

Anytime I have rented a car, picking it up earlier was never a problem, no added fees. I guess it all depends on the company, and how many reservations they have that day.

Best bet may be to call them and find out.

wouldn't think it would cause them a major problem, but I'd check with them just in case

Won't be a problem - the rental offices know your flight number and monitor the flight arrivals times, so they'll expect you earlier. The times you put in on booking can only ever be estimates as no-one knows what delays, slow immigration queues or baggage claim hold-ups may occur on a particular flight.

Your rental period only starts when you actually pick the car up and ends when you return it so no worries about extra charges.

We picked up 90mins early with Alamo 3 weeks ago and no probiem just remember to drop off early so as not to go over into another day.

You will be fine. They always have cars and will just use your collection time as that start time.
