Universal's Incredible Hulk Rollercoaster to Undergo Major Rehab

The Incredible Hulk Coaster® at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida is receiving a major update and will be closed beginning 8 September. It is expected to open again next summer with some great new enhancements to its storyline, ride vehicles and overall experience.

One of the things expected to be updated is the mechanism that launches the ride vehicle from 0 to 40 miles an hour in 2 seconds. Universal will be switching to a linear induction motor (LIM). Currently the launch uses conventional motors and friction tyres to launch the ride vehicle, this needs constant maintenance and tyre replacement. LIM's use a magnetic effect and require less maintenance.

Such a shame as this is our favourite ride at Universal. we have bout annual passes this year too but it will be out of action for both our trips in October & March!

Might have to book again later next year!

Phew, our 10 year old is busting to ride it as he was too short last time.

Shame for anyone there when it's out of action but the small print about attractions being closed is covering them. Love Hulk.

Ohhhh that was close we check in at rpr on the 7th so will manage to ride it, never done it before

Oh no, It was my fave when we were last there in 2000. I bought DH a Hulk t-shirt to wear when we go to IOA. Wont be the same if we cant ride. Going April 2016 so doubt it will be open as its stating summer reopening

Not going to affect as we have no trips planned untill 2018, just hope they dont change the start-thats the best bit!

Probably putting 2 and 2 together and making 5, but interesting this is announced same weekend as the D23 Expo, and possible 'big' announcements re DHS (or whatever Disney are going to call it).
