I had my gallbladder out via keyhole on 31st Oct and have a sick note for another week which will make it 4 weeks. I travel alot for work so I'm expecting to be told to have the full 6 weeks off and then do a phased return to the travelling. I honestly thought I'd be ok by now but I'm not. Still uncomfortable if I walk too far or try and lift anything. Still can't lie on my right side for very long too. My keyhole wounds are healing wonderfully the discomfort is from where the gallbladder used to be. I've also not tried to drive yet either 😬

Just had my gall bladder removed recently and I was advised no lifting for 6 weeks due to the risk of getting a hernia ( I am not a manual worker). It was a good four weeks before I could lie flat in bed due to the stitches (key hole surgery). I feel so much better now though

I had my gallbladder removed 14 years ago. The pain of gallstones was the worst I have ever experienced (including childbirth).
For me, the pain felt like I was being stabbed right in the middle from the front through to my back. The only medication which helped was morphine, nothing else touched it. The hospital would have asked what you had eaten as fatty foods aggravate gallstones. I had to stick to food which contained less than 5g of saturated fat per 100g of product.

I had my gallbladder removed on 16th August and was off work for 6 weeks plus 1 week holiday.
Was due to go to Florida on 29th Sept but due to Thomas Cook it was cancelled. I wouldn't have been fit to enjoy holiday as it took me nearly 9 weeks to get back to full fitness. |
