Mobile Paying for flights in full

We always book flights direct. Usually with virgin but last year was TC as they were cheaper. Do the whole amount is paid in full which we pay using our visa debit card (nationwide) I transfer the amount from our savings into our normal account and pay with that card.
Is this ok?
Reading the TC thread and people cancelling etc and saying you should only pay in full with a credit card etc has got me worried.
Not sure if I have dreamt this but do virgin charge for using a credit card?
Thanks

Never pay large amounts on debit card, anything over £100 should be on credit card for protection. Pay using credit card then pay it off straight away using savings.

I always pay the flights on a credit card, even if it’s just a deposit (always book a BA fly drive) just for that added protection.

We certainly have been charged for using a credit card in the past by VA. (as in a couple of years ago). Not sure what it was, but whatever it was we felt that it was worth the extra for the safety.

Buying on a credit card would give you additional protection. When I have bought flights on a debit card, the airline and Expedia had put a hold one my card for the same amount again for a few days. I am not sure if that still happens though.

You are protected too with a debit card but its visa chargeback which isn't guaranteed, if you pay by credit card or a small amount of it by credit card, you are covered by section 75, meaning your credit card company has to pay you back if any part goes bust!

Yes - adding an extra charge for using a CC for any purchases was stopped months ago.

We never really thought about it before but we will certainly use a credit card from now on.
We actually never, ever use a credit card. The only reason we have one is because we needed one to put against the hire car in Florida.
