Is this right re:how you are protected

Have I got this right booking DIY if you had to make a claim with TC?
Flight only is this the order: ATOL if you have a ATOL cert for flight (I have found on my last flight I booked ATOL cert for a small fee you can add it on so I did). Then claim off insurance but only if you have end of supplier failure. Failing that off your Credit card is this correct?
What about other elements like hotels and park tickets? Would this be insurance if you have end of supplier failure then if not CC or do these elements work differently?
It really makes you think and to make sure you are adequately covered and in light of TC think it would be good to know the facts and knew the Dibb would know.
I feel so sorry for all the people who have lost their jobs and holidays

I think the order is something like this:
  • ATOL (if you have an ATOL certificate - most flight-only bookings don't have this)
  • Third-party company (if your flights were booked via a third-party, not direct with TC)
  • Credit Card company (if you paid on CC and the flights cost more than £100, and you didn't book through a third-party)
  • Insurance (if all else fails, contact your insurance company and see if you can claim. It will depend on what your insurance covers. Insurances will often not pay out unless you've tried other options first. Plus they may require you to pay an excess)

As for park tickets and hotels, it's a similar order (I think) however note that park tickets and hotels booked DIY are still honoured and the park/hotel companies are still running so you haven't lost these. Therefore claiming from, say, a credit card company probably won't work. You would probably have to claim on your insurance in this case.
