Why are some people so cruel to animals :(

I've just read a story on sky news where someone found a hedgehog in her back garden who was discovered to have been covered in petrol and set a light. The hedgehog was taken to the vets but sadly had to be put to sleep.

I really dont know why I even read these type of stories because they make me so upset - how anyone can be so cruel to animals is completely beyond me

That is awful, I could never be cruel to a animal. In Kefalonia there were stray cats and a few dogs around the town and hotels. I have never really been a cat person but I loved seeing them all, we fed them with left over dinner. There were two lovely dogs on the Beach that befriended my dd, it made our holiday much more enjoyable.

I saw that earlier and it’s really upset me.
I can’t understand how some ‘humans’ can be so evil.

I know we met a lady who had rescued a dog who’s owners were prosecuted for breaking its back legs. For fun. An 11 week old beautiful puppy and she’s still so loving and trusting of humans. It breaks me.

I feel like most criminals can be rehabilitated but people who are cruel to animals? Irredeemable. They are just broken in the head somehow.

This is awful-I am not particularly an animal lover but what on earth would possess someone to do this.

After doing a dog breed rescue for years nothing surprises me now
Yes I understand if you are not an animal lover that’s your choice but if you do something I don’t like with in the law I can do nothing

Volunteering in RSPCA for years and years you (thankfully rarely) hear about children who have tortured animals for fun and I do truly think they are a danger to society. Being children they don't get any sort of proper punishment for what they have done.

How anyone could do that is beyond me, there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

As it is a hedgehog is there a possibility it had crawled away to hibernate for the winter and unfortunately someone was burning off garden rubbish not knowing the poor little thing was hidden underneath?

I hope that was the case and it was a accident rather than someone doing to on purpose, poor hedgehog either way!
