Disney Reducing Hours in September

𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿

As per Disney parks reservations website, from the 8th September, Walt Disney World's Orlando theme parks are reducing operating hours.

The latest opening times show as:

𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺
Closes 6 pm - Reduced from 7 pm previously

𝗘𝗽𝗰𝗼𝘁
Closes two hours earlier at 7 pm. Previously closed at 9 pm.

𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺
Now opens at 9 am, which is one hour later than in August. The park will also close an hour earlier at 5 pm.

𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘀
Will close at 7 pm, also an hour earlier than usual.

Disney began re-opening theme parks back in early July.

Orlando’s theme parks have bought the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic with Sea World recording a quarterly loss of $131 million dollars on Monday.

why are they closing early? For cleaning?

For me, they should be open longer and allowing more folk in over a longer period

September is traditionally lower traffic month anyway, so probably just reflecting the bookings.

When I look at the availability for DVC rooms September is available for every type of room at every resort. Not so in October, November or December.

Cost. Attendance <20% capacity so no need to keep it open any longer.

Because visitor numbers will be reducing in September and in order to reduce costs. They don't need to be open longer to spread people out more - the attendance is already reduced and limited using the park reservation system.

At the moment, I think 99% of WDW visitors are American (USA has banned many countries from entering). Most American schools will be going back by the end of August. September is generally the quietest month and I suspect this year September will even quieter than normal.

Reducing park hours means reduced CM working hours and reduced running costs. That saves money. Considering Disney has made huge losses over the last 5 months they'll be looking to try and save some money if possible. Reducing park hours is a way to do that.
