A lot of the noise comes under the doors especially now with the wooden floors. In BC connecting rooms there's at least 15" between the 2 connecting doors, so you'd need a towel at each door and we've never really tried it, but at POFQ the doors were only about 3" apart, literally just the wall width, so the pillow was very squashed in and did help a lot.
