Do I upgrade?
Now this is a tricky situation. I currently have a trip booked to celebrate my birthday in September 2020. Myself and my boyfriend are due to stay in Caribbean Beach Resort and for some reason I found myself on the Disney Holidays site (because who doesn't!) and was looking at how much it was to go to a deluxe hotel.
It turns out its not as expensive at I thought it would be! For an extra £500 in total we could move to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've only ever stayed in Beach Club and Port Orleans so I'm slowly making my way around different Disney resorts. Is it worth staying in Animal Kingdom or should I keep us in Caribbean Beach? We aren't too fussed about being super close to the parks as we want to enjoy our time at Disney more and not tire ourselves out too much. Thanks

I loved both these resorts - does the upgrade change the dining plan? i.e moderate hotel quick service to delux hotel table service plan?

Upgrade Hun ... you know you want to 😉
We’ve stayed at AKL a couple of years ago and it was nice .. plus you’ll get the DDP 👍🏻

we had already upgraded our QSDP to DDP at Caribbean but moving to AKL would put us automatically onto DDP

So I would do it. Caribbean Beach is such a big resort and Animal Kingdom Lodge is so intimate and has such a great feel. It isn't a huge difference and it would make it extra special. That said though its what you feel comfortable affording and Caribbean Beach does have the Skyliner (although I don't think I could face riding it).

I think as you say that you won't be rushing out from dawn until dusk to the parks, that it would be worth upgrading if you can afford it, as AKL is a gorgeous and unique hotel to stay in, and great for justwandering/sitting around and soaking up the atmosphere.

I think I might call up today and try and upgrade! Its a resort my boyfriend really wants to stay in and I was going to keep it as a surprise from him and not tell him until we got on to the magical express! I've somehow got to keep this a surprise for 11 more months!
