Bargain Upper Class Virgin Flight Upgrade - Aug 18

I was just checking our bookings for 2018 on the Virgin website and as we know they now show a tab stating how much it is to upgrade to the next class.

I refuse to pay for UC unless it's cheap and our March flight wasn't so we will stay in PE
The April/May flight we are already in UC anyhow

But! For August 19th it was showing we could upgrade from PE to UC going out for £81.56p each.

All booked.

Ha ha. Which flight? We always go for the VS15 nowadays having had the VS27 cancelled so often when they compact flights. Plus I dont like rushing in the morning so prefer the later departure from LGW.

We’re not actually booked on any yet! I’m hoping prices come down before booking but we usually go for VS27. It does say there’s a third flight at 10am too at the moment. Although for that price I’d fly on any of them!

Sadly PE is showing £1500pp at the moment... 😔

It would be rude not to upgrade.

For Summer flights I book within a week of my return date being listed on their website. The problem we have is we go for a month in the Summer so prices creep up as we are waiting for that return date to be available.
Normally this is the flight we do Miles Reward bookings but none came up this year. I paid £1200 each for PE - a lot more than I wanted but I doubt it will go back to that price for months if ever.

Found a nice glitch as well today with American Airlines but actually it's on the direct BA flights in Oct/Nov 18. Bargain!

I’m hoping to use my miles against the booking in some way. Just searching over and over in various ways with my calculator to hand! We are stuck with 19th Aug - 2nd Sep annoyingly though so lack flexibility.

What a bargain! Just checked my April booking and I still only have the "bid for upgrade" link, but that might be because it's miles rather than cash.

Mmm. £1078 in PE with AA going out and back So the BA flight out but back via JFK with AA.
Good price though for PE albeit a fag having to change in JFK.

If I could go at the end of July I could get PE for under £1200 *sigh*.

I have so many airmiles I'd be mad not to use VA. Plus they're my airline of choice anyway. I'm sticking with my theory (futile hope?) that prices may be cheaper on Christmas Day...
