Disabled Rooms Advice Please

Hello
We have booked for Port Orleans Riverside, X2 rooms, one for us 1 for the family .
Due to hubbys medical condition our travel agent is emailing Disney to request a Disabled Room . We have not needed this in previous trips and would like to know what the difference is and the room sizes please. Also does anyone know where the Disbaled rooms are at POR , are they nearer to the foodcourt and buses ? Is there a chance we can have a room next to or at least close to our son x
THANKS IN ADVANCE - REPLIES MUCH APPRECIATED

Disabled rooms at Disney are seperate bookable categories and there are different types eg hearing accessible vs wheelchair. I wouldn't rely on a travel agent "requesting" a disabled room. We were accidentally giving one with hearing adaptions despite my daughter using a wheelchair and ringing to check when booking directly with Disney. It was on the second floor with no lift! Luckily they had a ground floor room and the wheelchair she had at the time fit a normal doorway.

Hello
Thank you very much for your reply, I will take that all on board . Hubby uses sticks for the most part but may need a chair or scooter at times if tires . But after surgery really struggles with steps, so thanks for the advice

I have had a disabled room at POR a couple of times . There are 2 mobility kinds one had grab rails around the bathroom/ bath only and also there are rooms with a roll in shower as well for people unable to use a bath/shower over bath

As Donna when we got there the 2nd time they had put us on first floor not ground level even though they had a note that I would be using a scooter and there are no lifts. Our room was ready but we had to wait for one on the ground floor.

The rooms are scattered round. The first time we were one of furthest from the restaurant so last time paid for a preferred room and we were put 2nd block away from restaurant

We were allocated a first floor disabled room in the preferred section of por (we didn’t need it and would have preferred a standard room).

There was a proper wardrobe in the sleeping area rather than the usual rail and shelf in the bathroom.

The toilet, sink and bath were all together separated from the sleeping area by a proper door, rather than a wash area (and curtains) with separate toilet and bath.

If you need a roll in shower, it needs a specific room. It’s not a requested room.

Hi,
We have at the POFQ loads of times and returning next year and have have always had a standard room twin bed bath with shower I was wondering what the disabled rooms are like do they have a double bed or twin beds. My mum is afraid to take a shower as she is frightened that she will slip and fall over I have seen pictures of the bathrooms and there is no grab rail to hold on to. Thanks
