Flying in to tampa
Can anyone advise me on what it's like to fly in & out of tampa please? How's the queues for immigration? What terminal does the BA flights go in and out of? What are the food choices for that final meal before flying home? Thanks in advance for your help.

Flying in and out of Tampa is very easy and much better than MCO. We flew out on 9 July and the immigration queue was quite quick took about 2o minutes to get through. We flew back on Tuesday and there was nobody much in front of us at check-in or security check. Security check was much more thorough this year than last. They now have a full body scanner and adults over 13 had to remove their belts and shoes. My Husband's laptop was taken aside and swabbed and all the zips in my jeans were check - even the ones at the ankles. We ate in Fridays in the airport but there is a Carrabbas and a Burger King (?) amongst others. Eat before going through security as not much choice the other side.

We flew out from there last night. Not much there tbh. Chillis airside from gate F. Duty free is tiny not much at all . Easy to navigate and quick in and out.

Love flying into Tampa - it's our first choice. Really good going through immigration when you land - much quicker than Orlando. As Debs said there is very little choice for eating when through security flying home - think t's just a Chilli's Too ? We normally eat at TGI before we go through security.
Also the Duty Free shop is very small compared to Orlando.

We prefer to fly in and out of Tampa over Orlando, although when we went through in December it was undergoing a lot of renovations but we still got through in less time than our previous visit via Orlando.
It is smaller than Orlando and over the years we have found it more 'child friendly' than Orlando. A lot of the car hire companies are all on site in the garage so that is also straight forward. However, as it is not as large there is not always such a large choice of cars. British Airways are in the Red section for arrivals and departures. As it is not as large as Orlando there is not quite such a large choice of places to eat but we have been to an Italian and TGI Fridays rather than a burger bar. Airside there is a Starbucks. |

I'd pay more to fly into Tampa, immigration is quick as is bag collection, normally through and in our car in under and hour.
