Best OOP Dining recommendations now that DP has gone

Let's get positive about planning for OOP eating!...

Since we all lost our Dining Plans this year & it is looking increasingly unlikely that they'll return next year, I thought I'd start making a note of good value places to eat on Disney property OOP.

I'm thinking there must be loads of TS restaurants that have appetisers on the menu that are big enough for mains. Or places that do portions big enough to share with a child. There may also be places that offer generous kids meals that older kids & adults could make use of.

Whenever we've had the DP we've always ended up wasting food, declining desserts & spending huge amounts of snack credits on sweets to bring home.

I think eating OOP will offer more variety & a new challenge for my Disney planning (which I love!).

To kick the list off here are a couple of recommendations off the top of my head:

* Yak & Yeti QS - Chicken fried rice. It's a good portion & would be plenty for a lunch & is only $5.29.
* Hollywood Scoops - Cookie ice cream sandwich. $6.49 for 2 big cookies & a scoop of your chosen ice cream. Plenty to share. Lots of resorts do similar & they may even be a little cheaper.
* Sanaa - Indian style bread service. Selection of naan & dips, huge & plenty to share at $18.
* Blaze pizza - build your own (delicious) pizza for under $10.

Me & dh would share a burger and fries at cosmic rays as they have a toppings bar, and the chicken nuggets you get a massive portion so would be ok for 2 kids to share

Good idea. That reminds me of another place to add to my list...

*Pecos Bill - Fajitas or nachos can really be stretched to share from there as there is such a generous toppings bar.

Great idea. It looks like a half metre pizza that serves up to 5 is priced from $40. That's good value for authentic pizza in a table service restaurant.

Satu'li Canteen in DAK has good portion sizes as well. The protein bowls are really tasty as well, but if you're getting the pods you get one rather than two in a children's meal and that was enough for me. They also have the refillable drink fountains as a bonus.
Peco's Bill with the nacho topping bar, just ask for a side of tortilla chips (and guac/queso if you want it) and just go mad on the toppings.
Electric Umbrella has a kids flatbread which is enormous. Ask for both your sides to be fries and it's a very filling meal.
Boardwalk Bakery and ask for a side of Mac and Cheese. It's a good size tub and it's not the horrible watery yellow mac and cheese, it's really nice.
The QS at the Poly (I think it's Captain Cooks?) has some good options there. They had nachos which were amazing. You can get food there and sit outside and watch Happily Ever After on the beach. (When we can resort hop obviously)
Grand Floridian Cafe is really good value for money. I dont eat meat anymore but they have a turkey and ham sandwich with gruyere cheese and it's so good.
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge is nice and it's a good atmosphere as well (ask for ketchup!)
Sci Fi Dine In is one of my favourite places. I think it's pretty reasonable prices and it's just cool being in there.
Skipper Canteen as well has some really nice things and it's definitely one of the cheaper options in MK, that and the Plaza.
A lot of the resort QS are really good actually, like French Quarter and Art of Animation.
I tended to always get kids meals at QS when I lived there and that was enough for me.

Alice 5 people without an appetite maybe I'd say realistically 2-3 & when you write $40 "quickly" it doesn't sound much but it's £30 for a pizza!
I'd say Sanaa aside there is one thing in common on all that you have mentioned - they're not TS restaurants! You could almost say that any apps plus TIP that you could get a "decent" CS for the same or less IYKWIM
Our plan generally is eat CS whilst in the parks or Disney Springs & then eat TS meals offsite. Places like Olive Garden generally do BOGOFs & last year we paid $42 for a meal that would easily feed 4.
I would add Chef Art's to your list not the cheapest but excellent quality in the $20-$25 range & one slice of Hummingbird cake will feed 3-4- it's huge!
