Mobile Choice of Android handset for DW

DW (caj) currently has a Samsung A50 mobile handset which has done well but now needs to be replaced.

She likes her android phones - particularly Samsung (as do i) and doesn't want to change to iPhone through personal choice.

She loves taking photos on her mobile and uses it to access the web (especially the dibb!)

If you are an android owner what phone do you have and what do you like / not like ?

I have a Samsung S20 ultra which she doesn't like because its too big (lucky for me!)

I'm particularly interested in dibbers who have changed their mobile in the last 6 months.

Thank
BB

I have a Nokia (got it around Christmas) which I like but it's cheap. My contract is only about Ł20 a month which is important to me. I prefer it to my works Samsung.

My DH has just switched from a Huwei to a Samsung and hates it.

Firm family favourite is the Pixel. DS has one. Seems a really good phone, DS says he has the best out if all of us and the size is perfect but it's twice the price of my Nokia.

Personally not a fan of Samsung phones. Too much crapware and interface meddling.

One of the recognised top midrange phones is the newish OnePlus Nord and Google recently released their Pixel midrange.

Both have new phones coming out in the next month which are predominantly the premium models, but there may be updates to the midrange as well.

Will be looking at the OnePlus 8T to see if it is worth upgrading (rumour is 65w charging and 120hz screen and between 30-50% cheaper than the S20 FE), although my 6T is still going strong and will get the latest version of Android shortly. Can't say the same of any of the Samsung's from the same era that friends have. Most are not due to get the update for a long while if at all.

My sister has a pixel 3a - really impressive phone, takes excellent pictures and works well! My colleague just got her kids a newer Samsung A series and she’s really impressed with them (don’t know the exact model but they are less then Ł20 a month)

I have a Google Pixel 2. Best mobile I've ever owned. Brilliant camera and most importantly for me, fabulous speakers/sound; me being a deaf lugs, I need clarity as well as volume.

I'm waiting for the new Google Pixel 5 to come out, then I'll make up my mind which phone to upgrade to, the 4a (budget) or 5 (expensive).

P.S. I had Samsung before my Pixel2. As 400ixl says, too much bloatware etc for me and the sound quality was too poor for me.

I have just bought a Xiaomi RedMi Note 9 pro and I love it. Have had a Xiaomi MI lite for the past 2 years, which I had no problems with at all which is why I bought another one from the same manufacturer

I'm watching these with interest- thank you everyone for your replies. I don't think there is anything wrong with any of these phones. Caj has gone to her local O2 shop "just to look". Let's see if she comes back with anything place your bets please

Noooo! O2 are really bad value for handset tariffs! Check carphone warehouse or mobiles.co.uk you will get a similar tariff on their deals for a much lower price, or with some incentives. Or will be over 24 months rather then 36 which is o2s standard these days. - basically the way their plans work now is you pay for the phone over the time at the rrp, then you pay a linked airtime tariff which is 2-3x more expensive then their equivalent sim only, so the only ways to stick with o2 at a decent price is either a sim only tariff and buying the phone from elsewhere (in my case I do pay monthly with Apple for my phone) or so go through a 3rd party for your upgrade (carphone ect.)
