Just returned from my Thomas Cook holiday and Alamo have taken full car payment plus pending payment

Has this happened to any other Thomas Cook victims, I returned the rental car and the said there was nothing owing, today I have had a payment of 479 taken from my debit card and there's also a pending payment for 475

Has this happened tho anyone else, will try to claim for the 479 payment from CAA but worried the pending payment for 475 will also be taken too

If the one payment is pending it should disappear in a few days. I often have this issue with Tescos and online food shops. I might give it a couple of days and check again. At the moment I have my food shop from Tuesday showing twice on my card (once pending and once not) and hopefully by the weekend the pending will disappear.

If you already paid TC then I would raise a dispute with your CC company, you shouldn’t be paying for it.

Orlando businesses seem to be the only ones charging Thomas cook customers directly but they shouldnt be do this.
Contact your bank and they should refund it to you

My partner had to use her debit card with Alamo as she doesn't do credit cards. Halifax bank said there is nothing they can do about it at this stage and will only help if the second payment is processed, I have submitted a claim through the cca website so we will see

The difference is likely to be the exchange rate difference at the time they put the hold on. So when they put the hold it was slightly cheaper so I'd claim the charged price. That said if you can wait til next week wait it out to be sure.

When we returned our car to Alamo the guy printed a receipt that showed how much the car hire cost and at the bottom that we owed $0. Did you get anything like that to help back up that it was already paid for?

This was my thought too, when I hire, even tho it's only a one way hire, I never leave the motor until I have a $0 to pay sign off sheet, which I keep for 6 month. I appreciate it may not stop some charges but it gives one proof to present to the car supplier.

Good luck Wend, hope you get a positive resolution

We did get a receipt saying o.oo owing which threw us, Alamo terms and conditions do state if the rental is booked through a third party and they fail to pay then you become liable, still waiting for the pending payment to drop off, and hopefully we will get the first payment back through ATOL, this situation would have put some people in a right financial pickle as it wiped 900 from her bank last Monday, luckily she had no pending bills to pay but not everyone is so fortunate, I noticed on Alamos Facebook page it happened to someone else, I'm surprised there hasn't been more posts on here
