Oreo help please

I am making a recipe that uses 22 Golden Oreos as a cheesecake crust.

Are the Golden Oreos in the states the same as here eg 2 biscuits stuck together with cream? There are 14 in the packet that I bought yesterday.

I have to add 5 tbs melted butter to the 22 crushed oreos, I am worried that with the cream in the middle it will be awfully soft.

I hope to make this tonight so if anyone can help I'd be grateful.

Yes exactly the same I use a very scant 5 tablespoons of butter and don’t crush the biscuits too fine I also use a spring form tin and line the bottom with baking parchment makes life so much easier is it the one with caramel drizzle sauce

We bought some Golden Oreos the other day. They look like this:



I believe they are the same as those in the States. They're a bit like custard creams.

This webpage has instructions on how to make a Golden Oreo 'crust':

The above uses 32 oreos and says to "crush them whole (filling and all)". Personally, I like my cheesecake base to be soft. It shouldn't be hard and should easily crumble.

Thanks folks, it's a strawberry shortcake cheesecake that a friend asked me to make. Although I'm doctoring the recipe slightly. Basically cheesecake and red velvet cake layered together with cream cheese frosting and crumbles of oreos over the top.

If I read 22 Oreos I would think of 22 complete Oreos so 44 biscuits plus cream. A single Oreo is both biscuits.

Thanks Bev, that is what I assumed but just wanted to confirm. It's a very gittery recipe and as I'm making it for a friend I wanted to be sure to get it right.

Yep and custard creams are way cheaper.
