House alarm system?
Hi - will be looking to replace our very old and dated system (it was in the house when we bought it) with a newer modern one and was looking to see if anyone else recently bought one and have any recommendations?
We want one that can connect to your phone as well.

We used a local security service that was recommended by a friend. I've no idea what the make is, but we have an app that will notify us if the alarm goes off. It will tell us which sensor has been triggered and in which order. We also have the ability to isolate each sensor on the app. This was useful last year when We were on holiday. Our alarm went off several times, but just from one sensor in the dining room. We thought May be it was faulty, or perhaps a spider or something, so just turned that sensor off. When we got home, we realised we'd left a helium balloon on the back of a chair that was wavering in the draught from a window left on the latch! (As an aside, we now have a cheapy TP Link camera, £30, that covers most of our lounge diner/ kitchen that we would have been able to view this on). Our sensors are all wireless, and we have a maintenance program which will see all the batteries changed every year. The sensors have a massive range, we even have a sensor in our garage which is in a block at the back of a service road. We also have 4 different settings, depending on which sensors we want switched on; full set, night set, part night set for when we utilise downstairs playroom as an extra bedroom and then just the garage.
Do you have any local Facebook pages where you could ask for a recommendation? Our guys are always popping up on ours if people ask for recommendations. |

It might well be a texecom system that the previous poster has which are very good wireless alarm systems. They are not easy to set up and a DIYER would usually struggle to install one.
I would avoid the cheap diy alarms like response and yale, as they are nothing like the quality of a texecom alarm. |
